The Business Masterclass at London Stock Exchange is the first in a series of events to support the development of practical business and enterprise education in Hounslow's schools and connect our young people with business role models. 80 pupils from six Hounslow schools were invited to open up the London Stock Exchange and then attended a panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Seema Malhotra MP, Chair of Hounslow's Promise.
The discussion offered chances for students to ask questions about the fast-paced world of business, with students asking questions ranging from the impact of Brexit on the London Stock Exchange to what degrees offer a pathway to getting into the Stock Exchange. In the feedback given by students, many of them mentioned how inspirational they found the discussion, as it gave them ideas for future careers. The event concluded as students and guests got a chance to sign the welcome book of the LSE. The welcome book goes back to the Stock Exchange's foundation and records every person who has visited to open the market. Masterclass with BBC'S JASMIN BUTTAR AND FINANCIAL TIMES' PETER CAMPBELL
The second Hounslow’s Promise Masterclass hosted BBC journalist Jasmin Buttar and the Financial Times’ Peter Campbell. They were quizzed by the young attendees and the Chair of Hounslow’s Promise, Seema Malhotra MP. The two high profile journalists spoke about their career journey, the changing shape of the journalism industry and provided a bigger perspective of the big challenges journalism faces today. The discussion provided attendees with a pragmatic understanding of the ever-changing world of journalism, with a local student describing it as “an honest and eye opening experience about what it means to be a journalist”. Hounslow’s Promise will be hosting more Masterclasses in 2019. If you are interested in attending, please register your interest by emailing info@hounslowspromise.org.

In the first of Hounslow's Promise's series of master classes', the former President of the Supreme Court, Lord Neuberger, headlined a discussion panel taking questions from local children interested in the field of law. He was accompanied by solicitor Ammar Khan from Access2Lawyers who conducted the questions alongside the Chair of Hounslow's Promise, Seema Malhotra MP. The event gave local children an insight into the life of one of the most senior lawmakers within the UK and what skills are required to be successful within law disciplines. The event was a great success with one Gumley School student describing the event as "Insightful, engaging and inspiring". This was the first in a series of master classes that will be hosted by Hounslow's Promise in the upcoming months.
