​Connected Futures: Mentor Sign UP

COULD YOU BE A MENTOR  FOR A YOUNG PERSON IN HOUNSLOW? 
 
Could you give just 1-2 hours a month to make a difference in the life of a young person? 
 
As a member of the Hounslow community, we know that you have valuable skills and experiences that could be shared with a young person, potentially making the difference they need to make their next steps.
 
A good mentor can inspire renewed self-belief and motivation. For young people who otherwise may not have anyone to turn to and reflect on life experiences, this can make all the difference to success. 
 
What will do you as a mentor?
 Through regular mentoring sessions, you will develop a trusting and supportive relationship with your mentee, offering non-judgmental advice and guidance. You will play a key role in helping your mentee to consider their options and achieve their goals. 
 
What we expect from a mentor:   
  • Regular 1-1 mentoring for a young person for around 1-2 hours hour per month
  • A passion and commitment to supporting young people and your local community  
  • No previous experience is required, as full training will be provided   
 
What you’ll get from the programme:
  • Mentoring training from InterCHANGE People Development 
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Hounslow’s Promise project team Opportunity to give back to your  community and changing a young life 
  • The opportunity to grow your own networks and community experiences 

Can I Apply? 
To apply to become a mentor, you need to: 
  • Be in employment or retired 
  • Be 25 years + 
  • Have a passion and commitment to supporting young people in your community 
  • Be able to spare 1-2 hours per month

    Time Commitment
    ​For one-to-one mentoring, we are looking for mentors who can be available for around 1-2 hours a month, with a meeting or contact fortnightly or monthly. You can apply also to mentor two mentees. This would be a commitment of working with two mentees throughout the length of the programme. If this is something that you would be interested in, please indicate below   ​
    Please provide details of one reference from your workplace or the community who we may contact:
    Acceptance on the Programme is subject to a successful DBS check in line with Hounslow Promise’s Safeguarding Policy. If you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. ​
    Data protection 
    The Hounslow’s Promise Mentoring Programme team will only use your contact details to send you information relating to the Mentoring Scheme and to request feedback.  
    Your contact details will not be shared with anyone other than the Hounslow’s Promise team without your knowledge and consent. 
    Except in connection with the activities described above or where required to do so by law, we will not disclose your data to third parties without your permission.
